Introduction to SAML: Secure Sharing of Digital Identity Information

The Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) enables Web sites and Web services to safely share user identity information. Sites can issue SAML assertions on behalf of their users or rely on assertions from other trusted sites in lieu of (or in addition to) directly asking users for authentication. With BEA WebLogic 9.0 and 9.1 you can use WebLogic's SAML administration tools and APIs to secure your Web applications with SAML. This article provides a short introduction to SAML and its use within WebLogic Server 9.
